JOSEPH L. DOWLING III
Since June of 2013 Mr. Dowling has served as Vice President
and Chief Investment Officer at Brown University where he
has directed the university's Investment Team which is responsible
for managing approximately $3.2 billion in assets including
the university's endowment. In this capacity he serves with
other senior officers of Brown Corporation on the President's
Executive Committee which meets to advise and support the
university's president in matters relating to budget, policy
and strategic planning.
From 2008 until his employment at Brown University, Mr. Dowling led Narragansett Strategic Partners, LP, a private investment vehicle he established to manage his own capital and that of other investors.
Until 2006, he was the Managing General Partner and Portfolio Manager of investment partnerships at Narragansett Asset Management, LLC, a hedge fund which he founded in 1998.
Prior to serving as a senior officer at Brown and as founder
and manager of his partnerships and funds, Mr. Dowling held
partner or leadership positions with Oracle Partners LP, Leo
Capital LP, The First Boston Corporation, Eastdil Realty,
and Tudor Investments where he managed investments in numerous
asset classes including real estate, public and private equities,
currencies and commodities. He has degrees from Harvard University
(BA, '87 and MBA, '93). Mr. Dowling holds an interest in our
fund’s management company, Stage Point Capital, LLC.
